Heaven’s Watch: A Renaissance-Inspired Tribute

Commissioned by Father Collins of St. Marks Church in Fawkner, this breathtaking mural stands as a beacon of hope and faith for the community. Inspired by Renaissance religious art, the mural features a celestial assembly of saints, the Virgin Mary, and baby Jesus, lovingly overlooking Australia and its people. Towering in front of the church and visible from Fawkner Metro Station and Sydney Road, this masterpiece embodies unity, spirituality, and resilience. JayMT & Silva’s mission was to bring light and inspiration to the community, creating an enduring artwork that honors both tradition and local identity.

Project Execution Process:

JayMT & Silva embraced the challenge of crafting this towering mural over a month-long period. The process included extensive research into Renaissance techniques, intricate hand-drawn sketches, and layering vivid colors and textures. With scaffolding in place, they painted each detail meticulously, ensuring the saints and celestial imagery resonated with authenticity and emotion. The final mural captures both grandeur and intimacy, delivering a powerful message of faith and hope for Fawkner’s community.
